On February 25, 2015, China and Grenada signed a comprehensive mutual visa exemption agreement in St. George, the capital of Georgia. Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Ou Boqian and Foreign Minister Modeste signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments. Georgia is the first country in the Eastern Caribbean to sign the aforementioned agreement with China.

 

　　According to the agreement, citizens of the two countries can enjoy a 30-day visa-free stay in the other country as long as they hold valid passports; however, if they stay for more than 30 days, or study, live, or work in the other country, they still need to contact the other country’s visa authority before entering the country Or the competent authority submits an application. The agreement will come into effect after both parties complete their domestic legal procedures.

 

　　Before that, Chinese citizens, in addition to diplomatic and service passport holders who go to Grenada, are exempted from visas. Those with other types of passports must apply for visas through the Georgian embassies and consulates in advance, or apply for a visa on arrival at the Georgia Immigration Bureau. Furthermore, the Georgian Embassy in China does not currently have the conditions for visas, and it is necessary to entrust the British Embassy in China to apply for visas to Georgia. Today, the agreement on mutual visa exemption between the two countries will bring convenience to personnel exchanges between the two sides and will help further enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields.
